What am I on about? Well, allow me to quote some famous knitting dialogue that goes on around the world much, much too often between an intrigued person and a knitter.
Intrigued Person "You knit, that's so cool! My grandma tried to teach me but I could never get it!"
The Knitter "Oh, well I could show you some time, or even better you should come to one of my groups knit nights! They are so much fun."
I.P. "Ha! You have a knitting group? That's awesome, I always thought knitting was done by grannies"
T.K. "Well, those grannies graciously passed on their skill, and there are many of us breathing life into those dusty old patterns. And obviously amazing new ones as well..."
Thinking, the intrigued person says " Come to think of it, my nana has a bag of old needles and patterns she was getting rid of...You could probably look through them if you want."
The knitter.... heart starts fluttering... "What do you mean a bag of old needles...?" As casually as possible trying not to let on that this could be a bag full of knitting gems...
I.P."So, what do you knit?".
T. K."Oh, a bit of everything. Sweaters, blankets and my favourite - socks"
I.P. "Can you show me?"
ENTER LONG WINDED ANSWER THAT HAS YOU EXPLAINING HOW YOU DON'T HAVE ANY KNITTING AT HOME BECAUSE YOU ALWAYS GIVE IT AWAY AS GIFTS, WHICH IS LOVELY, BUT ULTIMATELY MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE A KNITTING LIAR...
So, all that to say that this year is all about knitting/sewing for l'il ol' me! I have been planning projects that I would love to wear or have or just plain and simple - make. No rhyme or reason other than to build my own little knitting stash. So, this year join me on a 20MEproject. Send pics of your planned projects. Let's make 2012 a time for gift giving to ourselves. (Oh come on! Stop feeling guilty, we're allowed a little present or two!)
