I have recently had a lend of a knitting machine. It is going to be the death of me, that or within a few short weeks I will have incredibly toned back muscles...
You see, on my first session with the machine, my teacher instructed me to grab any kind of yarn to practise on. She said it will be good for me to learn what this bulky weight machine will do with all different weight yarns and so, like the good student I am, brought out everything. What I didn't realise was that the panel I had created whilst learning was to the beginning of a king size blanket in a colour scheme that I LOVE but would never had picked in a million years! Navy, baby yellow, fluoro pink, taupe, white and soft grey. But there you have it.
Anyway, so I whipped up a couple more panels and joined them together, all this taking under 5 hours tops. knitting included! So I decided to try a garment that had stockinette as the body and had to be made in a seamed version, which is surprisingly hard to come by with all the rage being top down and top down yokes. More on that later, just know that Murphy has two versions of his famous saying... "all stitches that can be dropped will be dropped". It's the less popular of the two sayings but, ahem, I'm sure it was him who said it ;)
It's a little bit sneaky but the truth is I am preparing and learning the knitting machine ins and outs for a project that is coming up in early new year. Details to come so stay tuned!
