Ragrugging came to me years ago when my sisters and I would plait fabric, sew it into lovely rolls and make a little handbag. My techniques have evolved over the years as I learned to incorporate weaving and stitching into my rugs. I love the idea of upcycling bed sheets and pillow cases into something new - like a rug! I find the materials inexpensive at second hand shops and the only tools required are a trusty safety pin and some scissors. I hope you enjoy this tutorial as it is such a fun "non knitting, non crochet" creative project.
I have decided to share my ragrugging techniques on my website in an effort to help answer questions from my workshops. This is a long tutorial that demonstrates some basic techniques but does in no way replace the the hands on help found in a workshop. I of course encourage one and all to join in the workshops as they are good fun!
For now, have a squiz at the tutorial, grab some fabrics and get rug making!
