Let me tell you about this pattern: I found myself improvising for this pattern so much I'm not sure a review would be accurate. Perhaps it was the baby brain, but the heel and foot instructions just wouldn't come together for me. None the less, I got there with a standard short row heel and am happy for the inspiration of the pattern. These are absolutely gorgeous on my little man, and one of the only things that fit him from the very beginning.
Things you should know before casting on: Socks can be tricky for new knitters to wrap their head around as there are some technically interesting things that need to happen. However, due to some sticky instructions with this particular pattern, I suggest you start with a much simpler pattern for turning a heel or short rows instead. In saying that, to make these stocks, you will need an understanding of:
- short rows,
- increases and decreases
- binding off (Kitchener stitch or grafting).
