pro·cras·ti·na·tion [proh-kras-tuh-ney-shuhn ]
noun the act or habit of procrastinating, or putting off or delaying, especially something requiring immediate attention: She was smart, but her constant procrastination led her to be late with almost every assignment.
Although I consider my work "fun", I have come to realise that every tab I have open on my computer screen, although inspiring, is not in fact conducive to my "work". Allow me to explain. My task upon arriving home from a very exciting meeting was to do a bit of research for an up and coming adventure that I might be taking on. (Details to come, be patient my persistent friend!) So, while I should be perusing handmade/craft websites, I find myself responding to my dear little cousin on facebook telling me about her "dead little red riding hood" costume for Halloween. Not only was the costume scary, so was the fact that she is growing up so fast and I'm pretty sure she was wearing heels! (Trick or treating in heels would be extremely scary.)
After that, I get back on task....only to be interrupted by that very recognisable "tweetle de tweet" that comes from a Tweetdeck notification. "Ooooh! This will be good, more inspiring links to check out". Come on, cut me a break they'll be craft related links that are from fellow fibre artists. A quick peak at who's knocking on my cyber door finds me entrenched in a internet surf that lasts only 26 minutes. Not too bad for a distraction, in plus I haven't had a lunch break yet...
Okay, seriously I'm back on track now. I'm focused and ready to do my work. I've got my to do list...... Oh, it was right here. That's weird I had my to do list right here. Hang on, I must have left it on the kitchen bench. I'll just go check and be right back.... (walks into kitchen and sees dishes that need cleaning, suddenly finds herself mopping and vaccuming under the couch.)
Right, this time I will get my work done. And I do. I am reseraching the internet's collection of knitted shawls and woven baskets, boleros and cable knit sweaters... The problem is - they are so inspiring I feel compelled to cast on. And so I do. Looks like the tabs on my computer have won today. There is always tomorrow to get some work done!
