I was teaching a kids knitting class on Monday morning and I genuinely enjoyed myself. The kids that I taught were well mannered, polite and giggly, and much to my surprise - completely attentive for two and a half hours of knitting.
I was reminded of my crafty beginnings as I listened to the conversations of these devoted knitters. Projects grew from little bookmarks to blankets for their beds. I was most inspired by their enthusiasm and ideas.
Most kids are ready to start learning about knitting by the age of six or seven. It's a great activity to encourage hand eye coordination, improve patience and concentration as well as project planning and developing. Don't forget that boys can knit too!
