Materials: Good sized scraps of fabric, zip, denim(optional) and interfacing(optional)
I have a friend who recently told me she is expecting her first baby. As delighted as I am to hear this news, the first thing to cross my mind was "what am I going to knit the baby?". Which of course, is all planned, colour coordinated and on it's way! But as mum-to-be is a good friend, I wanted to make a little present that would be suitable for her to use now and doesn't necessarily have to come in baby colours.
Enter "open wide zippered pouch tutorial". Recently, I was told about the Noodlehead blog. An inspiring place for those who like to sew and has DIY tutorials splashed everywhere! Great tutorials, I might add. Follow along pictures, measurements and wording all down to a fine art. I have to admit, I have spent a fair amount of time on this blog, completely inspired. So it goes without saying that I made myself a couple of pouches to use as the "oh! so needed" project bag.
These pouches can be made in three different sizes and are beautifully lined. The "open wide" aspect is new to me but I could instantly see the benefits. You don't have to make the outer two toned but I opted for the suggested denim for extra support as some of my fabrics were silky with not much strength or weight to them. I am very excited as I will be testing out my pouches this week and am pretty sure mum-to-be will be too!
