I'm sitting in London, on my sister's couch. It's rainy and cold outside, the perfect weather for knitting. I have been humming and hawing over this post for a few days now and I have finally come to the conclusion that perhaps no words are required to express what it is I'm feeling, but still I will try to explain.
Basically what happened was, I walked in to the apartment after a day of shopping. Admittedly, I was tired. The tube, all the people, the shops, the Christmas rush (omg! Yes, the Christmas rush has started!) and all of that pushing a baby around who really is over sitting in his pram... It just gets a bit overwhelming.
After coming home, I saw our two knitting projects on the couch. Just waiting there. Patiently, quietly. For our hands to pick up the needles and relax into the rhythm, the slower rhythm. It was then that I realised, my sister and I are making something that has more value than any item I could pick up on Oxley St. It means so much more than any souvenir I bring home. In fact, it's the memory of sharing a few stitchy moments with my sister that is the souvenir of my trip to London.
