During the two days of offline madness, so many thoughts had crossed my mind.
"Maybe I just looked in the wrong place and its just the internet playing up, it'll be back soon."
"Did I delete this accidentally on purpose, out of haste, out of spite for a knitting project gone wrong?"
"OMG! What have I done???"
"It's so like you to do this Jennine, you're so reckless"
"Why is the internet against me? I hate technology, bring me my pad and paper..."
"Perhaps there is a reason behind all this, maybe I'm meant to choose a different path now...."
"Do I even like knitting any more? Maybe this is the universe's energy telling me I'm no longer a knitter..."
"No! I want it back! All of it! I love it! I'll do better and more! It means EVERYTHING TO ME!"
And just like that, my site was back up and running. Everything had been restored. deep breath.....
It might have taken that episode for me to realise just what the fibre arts mean to me. As a maker, a knitter and a crocheter I have a hard time identifying my place in this realm of arts but for some reason I know I belong here. I just haven't established my place yet. Then, some answers came to me via the voice of Adam Savage (you may know him from Mythbusters). My husband, son and I were having a lye in, watching various youtube clips and up came this talk called Adam Savage: Ground Rules For Success and it put absolutely everything into perspective. I kept saying to my husband "I feel like he is explaining every thought in my head and making it very clear what this all means to me."
So what does it all mean to me? The knitting, the yarn, the hooks and needles, the collecting, the stash, the teaching, the writing, the sharing, the connecting, the tutorials, the learning, did I mention the knitting? Simply put, it means everything.
